Augusta Community Radio

Description

Augusta Community Radio has been allocated a Temporary Broadcast Licence and began broadcasting from the studios located above the Augusta Telecentre in Allnutt Terrace in Augusta on the 1st February 2009. 

The station will be called 2oceansFM and will broadcast on 97.1Mhz. It is estimated that the signal will cover the towns of Augusta and Karridale and  Hamelin Bay, Scott River, Molloy Island and Alexandra Bridge.

However, there are no guarantees, as it depends on the receivers being used to receive the signal, car radios are usually better than most.

Applications for equipment funding have been successful, grants from the South West Development Commission of $20,000 and Lotterywest of $10,000 have been received and the station has been allocated $15,000 from the Jack & Lena Ryall Trust, which is really inspiring.

Memberships are available right now, at just $25 and $15 for seniors, concession card holders and full time students. We will also be seeking sponsors for the various programs and even donations no matter how small will help with the operation of the station.

This is a great opportunity for the community to get behind this project. Everybody can get invvolved, as an announcer or a volunteer to help with the running of the station.
